is a pure-bred Connemara stallion, born November
2nd, 2013, and stands 14.1hh. CPBSA Reg. No. 275. Tested n/n (clear)
for HWSD
Boonahburra Braveheart (182) x Monahan Nightingale (1789)
Wychwood Silver Swift and his sire (now 25) are the last of
the Australian bred registered orange (Arabian) line stallions. He provides a
useful out cross with old and valued bloodlines up close in his pedigree from
the early and established Victorian Connemara studs of Boonahburra, Monahan and
Celtic, while his dam line travels through the South Australian Wychwood ponies
to the first Irish mare import, Ardan (Imp IE 1001). He is of traditional
type, masculine with good bone, combining performance lines, particularly
jumping, with a good temperament and the general all-round versatility of the
Connemara pony.
He was born and raised on pastoral country and shown
successfully in hand as a colt before being started under saddle. He
continued training with Reed Equestrian from March 2020 until November
2020. While the advent of Covid reduced competition opportunities to only
limited outings, he was able to attend freshman jumping, producing clear
rounds, and a dressage outing where he competed at Preliminary level, winning
both classes.
He stood in Victoria for three seasons producing pure and part-bred
foals.
“We’re a little sad to say that we have farewelled Jason
(Wychwood Silver Swift) but are grateful to Catherine Hollingsworth for leasing
him to us for 3 seasons. He’s given us some lovely foals and hopefully by the
end of the year he’ll have had 11 foals (10 purebred - some from visiting
mares).” Janet Jackson (Slaters
Lake Connemara Ponies)
